Gamer’s Journal – System Updates For 2024

Happy New Year! It’s already passed and I’m late in saying it but I’m grateful for another year that this blog and ministry is still up and running. God has been so good in 2023 and I’ve been reflecting on what went well, what didn’t, and what habits I can form make this year that will help me improve.

Have you thought about that? What worked and what didn’t in 2023 for you? I think this is an important exercise to ponder because if we don’t then we will repeat the same mistakes and bring bad habits into 2024. The only way to level yourself up is by doing what God asked you to do last year and make practical steps towards them. Many of us make grand resolutions on what we want to do, but there’s no plan or details on how to get to that end goal.

There’s a book I highly recommend called Atomic Habits that has been a blessing to help me understand how to practically play this out in my life. Discipline and habits are what I’m focusing on more this year than last because that’s how I’m going to be able to accomplish what I would like to, God willing. If I don’t, then everything will stay the same because I stayed the same. If you don’t change anything, don’t expect to get a different outcome.

In 2023 I wanted to write more and publish more content but that didn’t happen. In fact, it was a slower year for G&G in terms of written content yet I did get a few things started that I want to keep pushing. Tik Tok has a few decent videos up and as I learn to create better reels, I’ll add more so others can discover our content. Instagram has been growing as well and I’ve added some short video content with bible verses that was shared a few times, which is an interesting way to share the word of God that I want to do more of.

Even this post I planned to release it on January 1st or latest the first week of the year, yet my personal life, in a good way, has kept me busy. My first ministry is always to my Lord then my family, so at times I won’t be able to create as much content as I would like even though I get ideas all the time! My creativity has not slowed down, I just hesitate at times to release articles, reviews, etc. because I am my worst critic and believe my writing isn’t that good. I certainly am not the best writer nor have I taken any professional training for it (though I’m looking into it), but I still like putting my thoughts on digital paper and I pray that others are encouraged by what I produce.

This year I would like to accomplish the following, especially now that I am seeing an uptick in views for the past several months. I’m not sure what is attributing to the traffic, but I’m grateful to God and I hope I can point people to their Creator and ministries, posts, video games, and more that will help out gamers and non-gamers.

  • Post the various drafts I have pending.
  • Complete several reviews I’ve never got around to completing, even if I don’t really enjoy the game. I received the game key or physical copy so I have a responsibility to finish my end of the deal.
  • Stream at least once or twice a week on Twitch.
  • Finish some Daily Nerd Devo podcasts.
  • Start a Patreon to support the ministry.
  • Create a Spanish version of Gaming & God called Videojuegos y Dios. I would want to create a separate WordPress site and translate some of my posts into Spanish, interview a few people and create unique posts for that demographic. There’s a lot of controversy with gaming in Latin America and I would like to be a positive voice in that space. I’m Cuban/hispanic so I want to see how else I can help my Latin brothers and sisters in Christ.

If I can accomplish those points above I would have had a good 2024 for this blog and ministry. If you would like to help out in anyway, reach out to me and let’s talk!

God speaks to us however He chooses and nothing is off limits, even videogames. So let’s get closer to Christ this year, seek His face for what He has for us in our lives and those around us and be the light and salt of the Earth.

What are some of your goals for 2024? What would you like to see more of here at Gaming & God? Let me know in the comments.

When not conquering digital worlds in video games, he can be found reading, watching anime, listening to music writing, and just enjoying life as a geek in the city.
