So I have been neglecting my own blog for quite some time. There’s a few reasons for that, along with reasons for me writing more on it. I used to be on staff at Geeks Under Grace, which had a quota of 3 posts a month, so writing for both of them was too much for me. I am married, work full-time, manage an eCommerce business (I sell products online through Amazon) with my wife, own a home, participate in my church, and try to find time to talk or hang out with friends. That’s a lot! Writing for me isn’t on my top priorities in this stage of my life. In fact, I wish I would have started writing much earlier than I did because I had more time to do it.
Anyways, as you can see I changed the theme of the blog, added a new poll to your right (please let me know if you want a Christian Video Game Guide), and will be writing more frequently here as well. I am still on staff at Beneath The Tangles, but I do not need to write as much for them at this point so I can dedicate time here. I also realized a weakness in my writing, which is I am always trying to make it perfect! I am not the best writer in the world by any means, nor have I published anything (I hope to rectify that soon), but I do tend to try to fit a mold that isn’t there. I keep thinking that I will make a typo, my words won’t be very organized or I won’t have a strong enough Christian message. Of course, I want my posts to not only talk about video games or other topics but involve the gospel as well, but I don’t need to feel like I need to express it a certain way. So I hope to be more free and relaxed in my writing here, but at times still have a more structured format.
Let me know if you want me to write on something specific. Do you like the little changes I did? Or do you want to submit a guest post? Have a comment or question about video games or faith? Need someone to pray for you? Let me know! God bless, and thanks for watching….I mean reading 🙂
Seems like it’s a season for reflecting on personal writing goals! I have similar struggles with perfection and will spend an eternity on ONE SENTENCE if I think it’s even the slightest bit off. I have to remind myself to let those things go and allow God to work through my imperfections. Not an easy lesson for me. 😉
I’ve been enjoying a lot of your earlier posts, too and appreciate your desire to bring Christian influence to geek culture. Thanks for linking me; I’ll definitely be back!
Yes so much yes. I am in the same boat. Often I don’t enough just because I get stuck on my writing being perfect and it ends up never getting published on WP 🙁 That’s a constant struggle even after 3+ years of monthly blog posts….
Thanks so much! I look forward to going through your older stuff too, blessings! And glad to see more Christian geeks, especially gamer ones, out there 🙂
