When I was 17, I made the most important decision of my life. I was lonely, sad, and searching for answers that I personally never found in the Catholic Church (nothing against Catholics — this is simply my testimony). I wanted a real relationship with God. I wanted to know Him, talk to Him, ask Him for help — but I didn’t know how to do that.
My life felt directionless and without purpose. Deep down, I knew God had what I needed, but I had no idea how to reach Him.
That changed when a friend invited me to a Bible study in high school. For the first time, I heard the gospel clearly. The club leader explained how we can have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and how He wipes our sins clean. That day, I made the decision to accept Christ into my heart. I confessed that I was a sinner and that I needed salvation.
I’ve never turned back — even when life has been difficult.
So what is the gospel?
The gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came down to live among us — fully human, yet fully God. He taught about the Kingdom of God. He came to destroy the works of the devil, to heal the sick, to bring hope to the broken, and to break the chains of sin.
Jesus willingly gave His life on a cross. Many believed He was dead — just another spiritual teacher gone like so many before Him. But three days later, He rose from the grave, exactly as He said He would. Death did not defeat Christ. He conquered it — for all of us.
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Through Him alone you can truly know God — your Father and your Creator.

What does that mean, though? To know God personally and have your sins forgiven? It means that you will have hope and be free from the bondage that has tied you up. The bible says we are “slaves to sin”, that we can’t help but live a life that isn’t pleasing to God. You can’t be good enough, do enough good deeds in this life, or anything else that you may consider honorable, to get your way into Heaven when you leave this world.
