Interview With Reach Conference Founder Romans10v9

In this exclusive interview, I had the opportunity to chat with Romans10v9, the visionary behind Reach Conference, a one-of-a-kind Christian gaming and creator event that’s transforming the way faith and entertainment intersect online.

We discussed how the Reach Conference began, its heart behind it, and what’s to come for 2025 and beyond.

1. So let’s start with introductions. Please share a little bit about yourself, how you got into the Christian content creator space, and anything else you’d like to share.

Romans10v9:
Hi folks, Romans here. Thank you for inquiring about ReachConf and its origins. Originally, I wanted to figure out a way to evangelize fellow gamers while playing video games. What better way to enjoy a hobby than to find a way to get God in the convo?

While playing Destiny, my handle was Romans10v9, and since it had a real community where you would raid with the same folks week after week, I wanted to show another look at Christians. Thankfully, I’m pretty funny—and it’s not just me saying that. Even Becky Lynch and Sports Illustrated say so!

Gamers would eventually say, “Something’s different about you—what is it?” From there I’d reply, “If you’re serious, I’m down to chat… or I’m just a guy.” I’d say, “Have you heard of a Christian? I’m one of them.” Usually, the response was, “I’ve never met one before or actually hung out with one.” I’d smile and say, “Well, you have been for weeks,” and leave the spiritual door open—or go down the Romans Road if they wanted to go deeper.

After a few years of that, I wanted to scale it. What if more Christians could do this? I stumbled upon Twitch and saw Summit1G around 2018—pretty late to the show! From there I wondered, “Are there Christian streamers?” That’s how I found Pastor Souzy. I got to know him well over a few years, and by 2020 I really learned the life of a streamer. From there, I began asking: How do we level up Christian streamers?

2. Why did you start Reach Conference? What is the heart behind it, and has anything like this conference ever been done?

Romans10v9:
Reach Conference began as the finish line of a digital evangelism campaign starting in Easter 2024. We rallied all our relationships to ask one question: Would you talk about Jesus using Alpha USA videos followed by heartfelt conversations afterward?

In six months, over 1,000 people participated across 33 streamers. At the end of that season, we threw a mega celebration at the intersection of gaming, music, industry speakers, and God.

There are many Christian conferences—even a gaming one I recently learned about that’s over 15 years old—but not at our scale. Last year’s highlights included Coca-Cola Consolidated (one of two Fortune 500 companies openly Christian) and a performance by Wolves at the Gate. The Chosen was a smash hit as well!

The heart of Reach Conference in 2024 was outward evangelism. This year, it’s inward growth—building up a stronger community. Last year we had 27 Reach Partners who did all the things; this year, we’re close to 150.

We’re honing that creator blade, finding unity, and spreading the message that Reach is where Christian content creators can level up their skills and celebrate gaming like never before. Just this past year, we hosted 20 content creator feedback sessions and are preparing five major collaborations with game developers before ReachConf 2025.

Reach Conference may be a mega event each year, but there’s digital life happening all year long.

3. Did you have a God moment—maybe during prayer, reading the Bible, or another time—that stirred you to start this conference?

Romans10v9:
“Holy discontent” is the phrase I use. Gaming makes up 75% of U.S. entertainment and 50% globally, growing 6–10% every year. This trend isn’t slowing down—and the church is nowhere to be found… for now.

ReachConf is one of the solutions to step into the gap and do what the church isn’t yet doing outside of kids’ ministry. The average gamer is 35 years old—far from a kid unless you’re over 70!

4. Gaming & God is all about bridging faith and gaming. How do you see the gaming space as a Christian, and what are you excited about or would like to see improved?

Romans10v9:
Christianity is doing enough in the VeggieTales lane for edutainment and creating events only for Christian gamers. What we need are more authentic, God-centered moments that are still enjoyable to gamers in general.

ReachConf is currently the only event that does this well. Others are basically church gatherings dressed in gamer clothes—great for believers, but not for reaching the lost. My “holy discontent” drives me to find the most effective and affordable ways to do just that.

5. What have been some memorable moments, experiences, or collaborations you’ve had hosting Reach Conference these past years?

Romans10v9:
I’m most surprised by the speakers who’ve answered the call to serve. ReachConf isn’t a money grab. My goal each year is to break even. I’m grateful to the 33 content creators who first said yes—and now the 100+ new folks who’ve joined them.

I’m pumped every time they gather and look to improve their craft. Content creation is 75% effort, 100% God, 50% grit, and 25% luck. You might say, “Isn’t that 250%?” And yes—it takes that much! Unless you’re already famous or wealthy, making it as a full-time content creator takes 250% effort compared to a regular job. You’re both employer and employee in one. If God’s not carrying you at the core—oof. You’ll need the grit to carve a path through a mountain with a plastic spoon.

6. Reach Conference 2025 is just around the corner! What are some expectations for this year, and what can attendees look forward to?

Romans10v9:
We have over 30 activities planned in three days—including three game shows with real prizes (like a free car!), a 30-piece double Emmy orchestra performing on day three, and speakers from Crunchyroll, TikTok, The Chosen, and Chick-fil-A.

But the best part is the community coming together in person. Seeing that each year is always something special.

7. How do you go about planning for the conference? Any behind-the-scenes details most people wouldn’t know?

Romans10v9:
I’ve been planning secular conferences for 15 years, so executing one is easy. Doing it now explicitly for the Lord is extra special.

One fun detail? The conference badges. Last year was a prototype—this year, perfection. I’ll leave it to attendees to see what I mean, but no conference does what we do with badges!

8. How do you encourage participants to take what they learn into their local churches, streams, or creative spaces?

Romans10v9:
Everything we do is available for churches to take and adapt to their own context. See something you like? Let me know your questions. We’re the stopgap until churches step up to do it themselves—or join us.

The venue itself is a church, so if my church can pull this off, almost any church can with the right focus and execution.

9. What is the vision for Reach Conference in the future? If money, speakers, or other restrictions weren’t an issue, what would you like to see happen?

Romans10v9:

Honestly, I see 1,000 of the greatest Christian content creators and their communities uniting. We’re at 150 and training to raise not just an army—but a strong one that impacts culture and redeems gaming for the Lord.

I pray the Lord keeps sending speakers who understand the mission and are willing to serve—kings and queens willing to lay their crowns down to help raise 1,000 creators impacting millions daily.

10. How can readers attend Reach Conference, where is it located, and if it’s too late for 2025, when will 2026 be announced?

The event is just under 30 days away, and this year is over 50% bigger and better than last year—and last year was already one of a kind. May God deliver what we’ve planned, because this year is going to be amazing!
